Introducing: Our New Paris Virtual Experiences!

Hi friends! It seems like it’s been so long since we last spoke. Or, since you last read something that we’ve wrote! And, that’s because it has been a long time! How are you? Have you been staying sane?

These past few years have been quite the whirlwind here in Paris. In 2019, there were the transportation strikes and the gilets jaunes protests, and in 2020…well, I think you all know what happened there. Beginning in March, France went under one of the strictest lockdowns in the world in the face of the coronavirus. We stayed inside (except to go grocery shopping) until May.

Last summer was fun, but it was also so much different than any summer before it. We were allowed to travel, but we were advised to stay in France. Worst of all, most of you weren’t able to come to France (or Europe in general) to come and hang out with us. We missed you, and still do, more than you can imagine!

But, rather than let a virus get us down, we decided to create something special so that we could continue to share Paris with you. And so, our Paris Virtual Experiences was born! Our experiences are centered around one thing: bringing Paris to you, wherever you are.

All of our new virtual experiences are based on our actual walking tours in Paris. While company founder Karen misses wandering the city streets with you in person, she’s created the next best thing: wandering through virtual Paris from the comfort (and safety!) of your own homes. We’ve also kept you in mind during these trying times: our virtual experience options are very affordable, especially when you think about all of the valuable information you’ll gain by the end of your virtual tour!

Consider these new virtual experience options as our gift to you as a way to say thank you for your continued support! Curious yet? Keep reading to learn more about all of our new Paris Virtual Experience options!

Jewish Virtual Paris Experience

We’ve turned our most popular walking tour into a Virtual Experience!

In November of last year, Karen broke Zoom and welcomed 1,000 screens on a Jewish Virtual Paris Experience with My Jewish Learning. She was even featured in Jewish Insider’s “Who’s watching what” list for that week!

What you can expect: to learn about the Jewish community in Paris, hear inspiring stories from Holocaust survivors and their families, explore a Parisian synagogue, and discover the Jewish quarter in Paris: Le Marais. Price: 20 € per screen.

Montmartre Virtual Experience

Ah, Montmartre. One of our favorite neighborhoods and Paris and the one that I actually call home! I’ve lived in this area for a little over a year and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Other than Le Marais, where most of our Jewish Virtual Experience takes place, Montmartre is one of the most authentically Parisian neighborhoods in the city.

What you can expect: to hear fascinating stories about this legendary hilltop community in Paris. Montmartre hasn’t changed much since the days of Pablo Picasso and his painter friends. Picture this: winding cobblestone streets, cabarets, and artists everywhere. You’ll discover the Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur Basilica, the Place du Tertre (otherwise known as the artists’ square), and Van Gogh’s old crib! Price: 20 € per screen.

This walking tour was my personal favorite, and the virtual experience does indeed do it justice! If you’re interested in the spookier side of the French capital, this is the ultimate virtual experience for you. Just make sure to leave the lights on… 😉

What you can expect: to delve into the legends and myths of Paris! We live in one of the oldest cities in the world, so you know there has got to be a couple of creepy stories to discover. We’ll also show you around one of the oldest parts of the city: the Latin Quarter! You’ll see the Pantheon, a sparkling Eiffel Tower in the distance, and the Notre-Dame! Price: 20 € per screen.

Ah, French food. One of the main reasons why we moved to France in the first place! French cuisine holds a very special place in our hearts, minds, and stomachs. It’s one of the reasons why we love living here so much!

What you can expect: to discover the ABCs of French food! French cuisine holds a very important place in French culture, and there is so much history behind it. You’ll also learn how the French do their grocery shopping, how they cook, and, of course, how they eat! Pro tip: buy a few pieces of the best French cheese you can find so that you can munch as you watch! Price: 20 € per screen/minimum of 5 screens required.

Coming soon: French Resistance Virtual Experience

The Liberation of Paris. Image found on WikiCommons.

One of our newest walking tours is our long-awaited Pièce de Résistance – which is centered around the Resistance movement in France during World War II. We’re currently working hard on creating a French Resistance Virtual Experience so that we can share our extensive knowledge, stories from former members of the Resistance, and info on places in Paris you’ll never guess were connected to it all. Stay tuned!

So, what does this all mean for you? It means that even though you can’t travel, we can still show you around our city. We’ve also decided that even when traveling becomes a “thing” again, we’re still going to offer our virtual experiences! Because, in the end, our goal is to share this wonderful city with as many people as we can. Whether you just don’t have the budget, have mobility issues, or simply don’t have the time, you can discover Paris with us.

But, maybe most importantly, it also means that when you’re able to come back to Paris, we’ll be here waiting!
