So, you’ve just taken a stroll one of the most renowned cemeteries in Paris – if not the world! Before we get onto the restaurants, here’s a little bit of background on Pere Lachaise:

Pere Lachaise is named for the priest responsible for taking the confessions of the French King Louis XIV (we’d love to be a fly on the wall for those confessions…) Père François de la Chaise. The cemetery opened in 1804 with just 13 graves! That’s quite the change from the 70,000 burial plots that exist there today. 1. Aux Tables du Père Lachaise

Company founder Karen has been frequenting this spot for quite a while – it’s located almost directly outside the cemetery and the metro station Pere Lachaise.

Never fear for your French level here – most if not all of the servers speak English and are more than willing to give their advice on what to do and see in Paris. Bonus!

We definitely recommend their beef tartare for the more adventurous amongst you, and their goat cheese, fig and apple salad is a must try as well!

2. Shingané

Looking for a break from all of the yummy French cuisine you’ve been testing all over Paris (yup – it happens!)?! Head to Shingané – this Korean restaurant is famous for their barbeque!

Shingané is known for its great service and large menu – we’re sure you’ll find something you’ll enjoy! Happy customers that have spent time in Asia rave that the restaurant is authentic, and I guarantee that you’ll be impressed with the freshness of their ingredients.

We have to recommend that you try their barbeque – specifically the barbeque menu! You won’t leave hungry, that’s for sure!

3. Blaise et Basile

You may get the feeling like you’ve gone back in time to 1950s when you enter Baise et Basile – and we’re soooo here for it! If it’s a nice day, don’t be afraid to call ahead to reserve a place on their outdoor patio, as the places fill up quickly!

They even offer you a free glass of wine when you sit down – talk about hospitality! We recommend their pickled salmon gravlax with radishes and Granny Smith apples…you won’t regret it!

4. Le P’tit Père

Le P’tit Père specializes in French cuisine, but after taking a look at their menu and reading somee reviews, the restaurant definitely adds a Caribbean flair to their dishes!

The servers at this place are just as friendly and willing to speak English as the rest of the options on our list – a real bonus for all of our Anglophone readers!

A must try is their Accras de morue – a type of fritter made from cod!

5. Aux Deux Amis

Aux Deux Amis is a little bit farther away from Pere Lachaise in the neighborhood of Oberkampf, but not to worry it’s only about a 20 minute stroll away!

The restaurant is set in an untouched 1950s Parisian dive-bar and specializes in amazing Franco-Ibérico tapas. Definitely a popular spot for the local hipsters, bobos, and foodies. This place is a great place to go grab a drink and a few tapas and take in the nightly Parisian scene of the 11th district.

6. Au Passage

This one is also located in Oberkampf! It’s one of our favorite neighborhoods in Paris 😉

Au Passage restaurant is a typical bistro-styled place, but the food is jazzed up by a former Spring cook.

The dishes are good, simple, and inexpensive. Lunch for 9.50 – 16.50euros, dinner for 20 – 25 euros. Talk about a deal!
